Aside from the fighting on front lines, there
was a lot of work being done off the battlefield. Many technology advancements
were being developed, leading to even bloodier battles fought. One of the most
important innovations was the lead Minie Ball. A seemingly ordinary ammunition
for rifles turned out to be a deadly bullet that could end lives with one shot.
Due to its smaller diameter and lighter weight, it made for more efficiency
while loading and firing shots across the field. However, after its release
from the barrel, it expanded, leading to more accurate and damaging shots.
